5 Kitchen Gadgets I Love
There are a lot of times when cooking with a simple pot or pan will do. The majority of the time that’s what I use. But… there are tons of fun kitchen gadgets that I also like to use when I’m cooking to keep up the variety in the kitchen. Here are some of my faves:
Instant Pot
I LOVE my instant pot. I have a 6 quart which is the perfect size for my household of 2, and every recipe I make results in lots of leftovers (typically 3 meals worth x 2 people so 6 large portions). I make soups, chicken & rice bowls, stews, sometimes even cheesecake! It’s an amazing device and I highly recommend it!
Crockpot / Slow Cooker
My instant pot technically does have a slow cooker function on it as well, but I had the crockpot first so I still use it a lot. Crockpots or slow cookers are perfect for when you’ll be home all day and want a nice slow cook for your food. Plus, on meal prep days, I sometimes have a meal going in the crockpot and the instant pot at the same time for maximum cooking optimization. Some of my favorite crockpot meals are ribs, pulled pork, and chili.
Magic Bullet
I’ve had my magic bullet since my second year of University and I love it so much. At some point I’ll maybe upgrade to a vitamix if I ever decide to, but for now my magic bullet does the job for my daily breakfast smoothies. My go-to smoothie ingredients are vanilla almond milk (unsweetened), 1 banana, a small spoonful of peanut butter (gives it a nice flavor + texture/thickness), some frozen berries (fieldberry blend), and a handful of spinach. Blend it up and it’s morning magic.
Rice Cooker
My boyfriend loves rice and likes to eat a lot of it, so the rice cooker has definitely also become a staple. It takes about 30 minutes to cook, but it’s so simple because you just add water and rice, turn it on and leave it. Often I’ll cook rice while I’m doing a workout or cleaning the house because you really don’t need to pay attention to it at all while it’s cooking.
Waffle Maker
I got a waffle maker for Christmas in 2019 and although I don’t use it all the time, it’s such an awesome gadget. I really love waffles and enjoy setting aside the time on special occasions or on “just because” weekends to make the batter from a family recipe and enjoy a sweet breakfast treat. Hot tip: always make extra waffles and have them as leftovers for breakfast the next day, but toast them in the toaster instead of just heating in the microwave - it’s honestly a game changer. Waffle makers also don’t have to just be for waffles. I sometimes make omelettes in the waffle maker, and they turn out great!
